The forcast winds of 20+ knots showed up about 10 minutes after the start and built to gusts in the high 30s. With the wind out of the southeast, boat speed was the best tactic available. VMG of the PHRF 1 division boat was 6.9 knots and 6.8 knots for the fasted PHRF 2 division boat. The leg back from Jack Island Buoy was so tight that with the higher winds, blades and reefed mains proved to be the best combination to keep the boats flat.
